Cotton doesn't burn into the skin, but synthetics tend to shrink when exposed to high heat: your nylon clothing can shrink-fit and melt onto you. You need some flames to do that, usually! Supposedly difficult to remove from burn victims: cotton chars, plastics melt/shrink on.
Probably not a concern for motorcyclists, although I wonder how Cordura holds up to exhaust heat? Could melt onto your leg, I guess (I'm not planning on trying it out).
